Srinagar Shikara Guide: Dal Lake Boat Rates, Duration & Booking

A Dal Lake Shikara is priced by the boat and duration, not automatically by the number of passengers. For a couple, family or group, first choose the number of boats, then the ride length and agreed route.

One, two or three hours?

Rayvia’s request page lists separate one-, two- and three-hour options. A longer ride allows a different route, but it does not automatically include every floating market, shopping stop or attraction. Agree the places you want to cover and the planned return ghat.

How many boats does your group need?

The configured request limit is four passengers per boat. A group of five therefore needs at least two boats in the booking form. Include children in the participant count and confirm life jackets and seating suitability before boarding. Do not overload a boat because some passengers are small.

Understand the price breakdown

The page separates the published online base rate and INR 50 Rayvia fee per boat. Buying two boats multiplies both by two; adding participants within the configured capacity does not turn the fare into a per-person charge. Extra hours use the configured hourly rate rather than adding another Rayvia booking fee.

Meeting point and timing

Dal Lake has multiple boarding ghats. Your exact ghat, boat contact and reporting time are shared with the confirmation. Ask for pickup from your hotel or houseboat separately; a Shikara ride does not automatically include a road transfer or hotel check-in.

What is separate?

  • Shopping, food and beverages purchased during the ride.
  • Photography services or paid dress-up stops.
  • Attraction entry, hotel transfers and houseboat accommodation.
  • Any extension beyond the duration you booked.

Source checks

The boat-duration rate comparison was checked on 25 October 2026 against the published booking pages from Tripmore and Apharwat. These are operator prices rather than a claim of government fare notification. Rayvia confirms its own arrangement and operating availability for your date.

Booking, closures and refunds

Rayvia manages activity requests directly. Choose a date and option, provide the lead guest’s contact details and participant ages, and wait for the Rayvia team to confirm the operating status and operator. Named tickets, including Gondola tickets, require each passenger’s details. Tour-package child discounts do not automatically apply to standalone activities.

Temporary closures remain visible on the activity page. A stated reopening date is an expected date, subject to local operating approval. Closed dates cannot be booked. If an unconfirmed activity cannot be arranged, the amount collected for that unavailable activity, including Rayvia’s fee, is refundable. Read the written confirmation and cancellation policy before travel.
